A Yoga Alliance accredited, immersion-style course offering an extensive exploration of the practice and teaching of yoga—with an emphasis on both traditional roots and modern influences.
The program
About the school
Flying Heart Yoga was founded by Willis Johnston in 2022. It is a space of collective joy and communal well-being. We believe in accessible and powerful techniques and practices that, when employed, lead to a more joyful, peaceful life—and we love sharing the practice with others.
We are a space that honors the yoga tradition while also being open to different ways of doing things. We host a wide range of classes, workshops, events, and trainings in our space, and strive to create an open-source type of environment to support the expanse and growth of our community.

A Yoga Alliance-accredited training program offers several benefits, particularly for those looking to become yoga teachers or deepen their practice. Here are the key advantages:
1. Standardized Education
• Yoga Alliance sets standards for teacher training programs, ensuring they cover essential topics like asanas, anatomy, philosophy, teaching methodology, and ethics. This ensures a well-rounded education.
2. Global Recognition
• Completing a Yoga Alliance-accredited training allows you to register as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), a credential recognized internationally. This can open doors to teaching opportunities worldwide.
3. Credibility and Professionalism
• Many yoga studios and employers prefer or require teachers to have a Yoga Alliance accreditation, as it signifies adherence to established standards.
4. Access to Resources
• Registered Yoga Teachers (RYTs) gain access to Yoga Alliance resources, including continuing education opportunities, professional development tools, and a directory listing to increase visibility.
5. Community Support
• Yoga Alliance provides a network of fellow yoga professionals and access to community events, helping you connect with like-minded individuals and expand your professional network.
6. Liability Insurance Discounts
• Yoga Alliance members are often eligible for discounted liability insurance, an essential benefit for those teaching yoga classes.
7. Commitment to Ethics
• Yoga Alliance requires its members to adhere to a code of conduct and ethics, promoting professionalism and respect in the yoga community.
8. Ongoing Education
• The accreditation encourages lifelong learning through continuing education requirements, ensuring teachers stay current with best practices and evolving knowledge in the field.
While a Yoga Alliance accreditation is not mandatory to teach yoga, it can significantly enhance your credibility and opportunities, especially if you plan to teach at studios or internationally. However, it’s also important to assess the quality of the specific training program itself, as accreditation alone doesn’t guarantee excellence in instruction.
